The first Kinetic Sculpture Exhibition mounted by DWLCT took place in 2016 and featured a work by Luke Tupper entitled ‘Transforming Movement’. Luke is Sculptor in Residence at the project and his sculpture was placed in the leat next to Dulverton Leat Bridge (adjacent to the book shop).
The sculpture drew many admiring comments from residents and visitors alike, resulting in a request from a local newspaper that the exhibition be extended by two weeks. Relevant permissions were obtained from Local Authorities and the sculpture remained in position until mid August. It is part of Luke’s concept that the sculpture be allowed to develop a rust patina thus giving greater allusion to the industrial history of the leat.
